Habba Khatoon, born as Zoon, was a 16th-century Kashmiri poetess whose soulful verses of love and longing continue to captivate hearts. Married to Yusuf Shah Chak, her poetry reflected her deep emotions and the sorrow of separation after his exile. Known as the “Nightingale of Kashmir,” she transformed Kashmiri literature with her poignant and lyrical expressions.
